Without question, this is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. It reminds me of the English countryside. It’s just magical! I could spend hours there every day, just enjoying the grounds and walking in the woods. As a wedding photographer, I would LOVE to photograph a wedding here some day!
Great tour guides so well informed. The site is rich in history. Beautiful grounds
I haven’t been here in season yet, it hasn’t opened for tours, so I will update this review once it does! But for the winter, this is a beautiful place to come and explore for a dog walk or to take a little picnic and enjoy the view. The water is beautiful and serene, and it’s a nice flat walk through the fields that’s great for kids.
A very nice place for a walk. I haven't actually toured the inside of the house, though that looks interesting. The grounds are free to walk around. There's a fee for the house tour. Nice gardens. Nice views along the river. There are connecting paths to the Vaughn Woods paths. Parking was free (the Vaughn Woods park requests a fee/donation if you park on that side).
Very nice grounds. The house opens in June, but in may you can walk the grounds and enjoy the views. Porta potties available in the parking lot.
Worth multiple visits as the gardens seem to always have a nice selection of flowers. But if you can time your visit in the spring the lilacs were in full bloom and made the entire area just seem so alive with color. I’ve hiking trails in the state park besides and along the river.
The actual house was closed to tours because of lingering COVID restrictions but I hope it will re-open soon for tours if it hasn’t already.
Was a beautiful property that my family has historical ties to, but we couldn't go inside as it was being renovated.
Awesome place to hike to. Beautiful gardens, house, and pond off the river. Great hiking trails for whole family-friendly
